While Right to Education Act mandates school enrollment, without any provision for school transport, children are unable to attend school. Door Step School has been bridging this gap by providing school transport<\/strong> using its own vehicles as well as auto rickshaws.<\/p>\n

Additionally, a Pune Municipal Corporation Bus, has been organized with the support of Sarva Siksha Abhiyaan,<\/strong> for providing school transport. At many places where the schools are nearby, children walk to school escorted by Door Step School teachers or helpers appointed by the builder. Transport vehicles are also used to transport children from many smaller sites to a nearby site for study classes and Literacy classes.<\/p>\n

Currently we have a Tata Magic, Tata 20 Seater Bus, a Van and, the School-on-Wheels bus for school transport. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan has allocate one Pune Municipal Transport (PMT) bus\u00a0 for School transport for Door Step School children.. Additionally, we hire private transport vehicles, such as vans, auto-rishaws and 6-seater rikshaws\u00a0 which are the most common form of school transport in Pune.<\/p>\n

Making provisions for school transport for children is an essential service, particularly in Pune which is known for its heavy and undisciplined traffic.
