Tree planting at Limb Jai

Where : Limb Jai Temple, Baner Rd, Pune
Background
We pick up children from four different construction sites along Baner Rd. in our School-on-Wheels bus and take
them to the Limb Jai Temple, where we have been given the use of the temple courtyard for our classes. Here we
conduct a Balwadi and an NFE class.
We recently asked for permission to build a couple of classrooms in order to provide children with a better place
for the classes, sheltered from the elements. Temple authorities agreed on the condition that we plant trees along
the perimeter of the temple.
We turned this into an opportunity for volunteers to come together and get involved
Tree Planting Day
Anirban Hazra and Ranjit Gadgil picked up the saplings from Pune University a couple of days earlier. In spite of
the incessant rain we had 10 people show up. Mr. Kumar donated a sack of vermicompost.
A couple of hours later we were done. With the incredible rains this year, we hope most saplings will survive and
make for a pretty environment.
